Band Camp 2019

What another great year it was for everyone who attended Music Camp 2019…learning new music, having fun with friends and making lots of wonderful memories!

Music Camp, held at the Crusader Camp at Galston Gorge, was amazing because it compressed about one and a half terms of rehearsals into the space of three days!

The purpose of Music Camp was to develop community, share music-making experiences, collaborate, learn from each other, refine ensemble skills and prepare for internal and external school performance opportunities later in the year.

Pacific Hills/One Maker Academy students were tutored and conducted alongside children from the Dural Public School Bands - providing opportunities for everyone to develop friendships and learn from each other.

Students participated in varied skill development sessions ranging from small tutorials to combined ensemble rehearsals, culminating in the Uber Band on the final day which incorporated all 166 students! This year's Uber performance piece was "A Whole New World" from the Aladdin musical.

Students in the Concert Band 1 ensemble mentored younger students during the combined rehearsals which provided them with a unique opportunity to share their musical skills.

The camp featured 6 concert bands, 3 jazz bands, 3 string ensembles, 3 vocal groups and a pop/rock band, along with 24 conductors/tutors.
